bristol-born and london-based producer rekordah takes charge of lo fi funk records second instalment. as well as running the independent label pollen, rekordah also promotes a series of parties of the same name with efa (which have hosted artists of the caliber of mike slott and slugabed among others), and crafts his own brand of cosmic, dismembered hip hop, in that wonky style everyone is raving about.
>cherry coke< on the a side, is full of bubbling sounds that evoke the soda drink your nephew drinks while he plays with that atari you found in the attic, played over a dilla style beat, whilst in the flip side we find >butternut<, in which p-funk synthesisers rise side to side with space age special effects, frantic syncopated drums and 22nd century boom bap.

conforce is the moniker of a 22 year old bloke from the island of terschelling in the netherlands. he is currently living in the city of leeuwarden where he works as an audiovisual designer. at the end of 2007 rush hour released his first 12 inch >our concern<, which got big support from people like josh wink, rolando, derrick may and laurent garnier. >junction< followed in 2008, with again raving feedback. to quote resident advisor: >quite simply he s a rising star<. now there are 4 amazing tracks from him on curle, hope you like em as much as we do!

with the help of bodie lee and his nuboogie series project we managed to lay our hands on the master tapes of this early 80s disco hit by beggar & co. miss dica is barbara tampiÚr, an austrian producer and dj, now resident in berlin. this is her first ep as miss dica, although she previously released an ep as synth model (with vito caliente). all tracks are co-written and co-produced by the berlin dj/producer, ronald christoph. on her myspace page, miss dica describes her music as electro/techno/thrash , which neatly describes what this ep is. the tracks are well crafted and musically adventurous, and it s these elements that caught the ears of third ear. the tracks have a feel and atmosphere that evokes raving dance floors. these tracks are for people who like to let go and party, and have their neurons sonically tweaked. this record does both.

transmissions florales is massis first vinyl release. the density of the 808 drums reminds us this is synthetic from the start. but as the the swirling, phasing 7th chords and the crystal-like lead tones build up and blend with the laid-back wah-wah guitars, this simple song take us to some sensual, forgotten place with swaying limbs and flashing lights. with a few changes in structure and the timbre of the bass, the acid mix proposes an alternate scenario - gliding to the edge of madness with a wink at raving in the late 80s. are we in the disco? or at the seashore? keep on moving, keep on flying. bionic gulls call to each other over the oceans arpeggios. >alpha base< uses a similar synth palette, but with quite different results. rather than waves, this piece seems to evoke dramatic weather over a jagged terrain. the funky, syncopated bass and percussion remind us of some ancient tribal ceremony on parched soil. odd sound effects imitate the heat and sudden shots of lightning, while the ascending pentatonic breaks suggest a primitive electronic geisha, draped in mylar foil, deflecting the suns rays as she dances for the gods. she performs an intricate sequence of steps, each with its own placement and hidden meaning… having spent the past 2 years entertaining crowds at underground clubs in berlin and around the eu, massi is already somewhat known to those who enjoy dancing to whatever is eclectic, energetic, and atmospheric. now, perhaps more people will hear his special groove. we hope you share our joy, our obsession… and the particular oscillations from this very personal >transmission florale<
